Riding downhill and across water
Many trail rides involve hills and water–that’s what makes them interesting! Here I show you how to ride safely up and down a hill and across a small creek.

I think your suggestion is a great one! I’ve got one video talking about Western tack, but that’s about it! Pathetic, isn’t it?! I don’t do much Western riding, but I’m definitely on the look out for ways that I can make some more Western videos. Any suggestions about what videos/topics in particular would be good to see?
Chicka sounds like an awesome mare! Keep up the good work, and please don’t hesitate to share some good stories ;)
Cheers,
Ali

Thanks for writing in! I haven’t been riding lately because I’m off at graduate school in England, and Noah is still in Colorado!! So I only get to ride him when I’m home over Christmas. Fortunately, my mom’s being doing a great job riding him for me in the meantime :)
I will certainly do a video on riding bareback! I LOVE to ride bareback (and I think there’s a photo of Noah and me have an adventure bareback somewhere on the site…). And anyone can ride bareback, no matter what style they ride.

Haha I do ride him bareback! I love doing that. I’ll have to post a few videos of it :)

Hi my names Sophie and my aunt is getting a horse but I want to be involved with the horse as well, but I am too scared of his feet! I think he might kick me. I have not got the horse yet but me and my aunt are getting her at the end of august. How would you train him not to kick anyone?
Please reply by sending me an email.
Thank you!
p.s I use to be scared of horses.
You can never be 100% sure a horse will never kick, but you can be careful and reduce the risk that anything bad happens. Watch my vid about moving around a horse and be sure you’re confident in going around him safely. If he’s never threatened to kick, you probably don’t have much to worry about, though I do understand your fear (horse hooves are HUGE AND HARD!). If your horse does happen to kick, make sure you immediately correct the behaviour–probably get someone who knows how to train horses to help you.
